We are currently working on multiple County level projects in several states.
Clinton County, IL :This project takes the county and participant agencies from an obsolete VHF system to a new state of the art VHF P25 Trunking system. The client has been operating with 30-year-old technology in the VHF analog radio band. The number of tower sites, while once thought sufficient to cover the county overall, was designed to supply talk out and talk back to the two sites by mobile radios, in a wide band mode, and high-power mobiles. The sites supporting the radio transmitters were minimal in their capacity for support during the challenging conditions of storms, and local power outages.
MPS was selected to do a fully comprehensive study of all aspects of the existing technology, site conditions, and existing tower structure suitability.
The solution for technology was selected to be remaining in the VHF public safety radio band, move to a fully digital operations, develop 4 more county owned tower sites, abandon a leased site, and refurbish the PSAP tower, and expand to an Army Corps of Engineers location.
Through a competitive bid process multiple possible vendors were entertained using a specific RFP for procurement that included a clear objective on how the new system needed to perform. Through this process, 3 vendors were responsive, and one was chosen. That vendor is TAIT. This system is currently in the implementation phase, with final install of the system occurring this fall, early winter time.

St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve Counties, MO - This project is underway in association with RFCC (Radio Frequency Communications Consulting – a collaborative partner) in the Counties of St. Francois/Ste. Genevieve in Missouri. These counties are separate entities that dispatch from a common PSAP. This is a joint, two county operation with St. Francois County being the lead entity. The PSAP for this dual county operation is in St. Francois County. They had outdated VHF analog conventional equipment and are moving to upgraded digital (P25) conventional simulcast systems. For this two-county project, we performed an initial system assessment, established a new system budget, wrote and analyzed competitive vendors bids, and are currently managing the system implementations.

Through a competitive process, we selected consultants from Mazzitello Professional Services LLC (MPS/RFCC) as a project team for P25 radio project. The submission of their qualifications was impressive and evidence of their experience and enthusiasm to partner with Dallas County. Through our follow up discussions with the county project first responders to review their consulting and project management services, it was evident they are knowledgeable and professional in the existing public safety communications arena. This came as the State of Iowa was making their first moves to develop a Statewide Iowa P25 ISICS radio system.
The necessary consulting work, with the follow up, competitive bid processes, radio technology supplier, and rollout project management all contributed to a responsible and cost-effective rollout of a radio system to dovetail to the Iowa Statewide radio system.
